Cheap Dopamine is a new Austin side project featuring Kevin D. Naquin and Paxel Foley of Urban Heat—the city’s post-punk / darkwave trio known for elevating synth-driven nightlife into something heavier and more physical. Cheap Dopamine’s first-ever live set hit Hotel Vegas in early 2026; the 29th Street Ballroom bill with Yellow Roses, Out of Body, and Anxious Arms continues that launch into the Hotel Vegas / 29th Street ecosystem.

Expect the DNA of Urban Heat’s dancefloor darkness—synths, atmosphere, and club energy—filtered through a fresh project identity rather than a straight Urban Heat set. It’s still early catalog territory, so nights are about debut-era heat and scene crossover more than a long discography.

For fans of Austin darkwave and post-punk nightlife, Cheap Dopamine is the new offshoot to watch on Eastside bills.
