About
Chanpan is a New York City trio—Grace Dumdaw on vocals with twin brothers Lance and Matthew Tran—whose name braids the Chinese pronunciation of the Trans’ surname with part of Dumdaw’s Kachin name. They started where a lot of real scenes start: busking in Chinatown, then packing rooms as the songs caught fire online.
Their alt-pop is restless and layered—breakbeats under jazz bass, glossy electronics, lyrics that refuse a tidy monolith. Early singles like “jungle” and “air ride,” and the endlessly era, put immigrant family history and political nerve on the dancefloor without losing melody. JoySauce and their own posts frame Chanpan as Asian American art with teeth. Stream them as Chanpan; follow @chanpanmusic.
