Chance The Rapper

Chance the Rapper (Chancelor Bennett) is the Chicago South Side MC who redefined independent hip-hop with Acid Rap (2013) and Coloring Book (2016)—the latter a gospel-inflected mixtape with Social Experiment, Kaytranada, and guests from Kanye West to Kirk Franklin and the Chicago Children’s Choir. Free-release strategy, Grammy wins, and Chicago civic work made him a streaming-era icon without a traditional major-label album deal; later projects including The Big Day and Star Line keep the joyful, choir-ready live energy. Brandon Breaux’s painted covers and “we back” openers tie the catalog to home.
