Bonnie Montgomery

Bonnie Montgomery brings a big, commanding voice to a sound that wanders freely between classic country, outlaw country, Americana, gospel, blues and soul.

An Arkansas native now based near Austin, Montgomery grew up surrounded by Southern gospel, Texas swing, Delta blues and Ozark bluegrass before taking an unusual detour into classical music and training as an opera singer.

That background gives her music some serious range. One minute she can sound like she stepped out of an old Texas dance hall; the next she’s stretching a song with the power and drama of her classical training.

She’s shared stages with artists including Ray Wylie Hubbard and Billy Joe Shaver and earned the 2016 Ameripolitan Award for Outlaw Female.
