B.B. Morse
About
B.B. Morse has been part of the Texas music landscape for decades, earning a reputation as one of those first-call bass players whose groove quietly elevates everyone around him. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area during the explosion of the 1960s music scene, Morse absorbed rock, blues, country and soul before making Texas home. Since then, he's become a respected fixture on Austin stages, known for locking in a rock-solid rhythm section whether the music leans toward classic country, western swing, rockabilly or blues.
His résumé reads like a tour through Texas music history. Morse has performed or recorded with legends including Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Johnny Gimble, Bill Kirchen, Gary P. Nunn, B.J. Thomas, James Hand, Iris DeMent, Wayne Hancock and Red Volkaert. He has also appeared on the Austin City Limits stage, performed at the Grand Ole Opry, toured throughout North America and Europe, and played countless festivals, television appearances and recording sessions. Grammy-winning pianist Floyd Domino—who worked with Morse on Merle Haggard's jazz project Unforgettable—famously dubbed him "The Atomic Clock" for his impeccable sense of time.
While many musicians chase the spotlight, B.B. Morse has built a career by making everyone else sound better. Around Austin, he's known as the kind of veteran player who brings authenticity, taste and an unshakable groove to every stage he steps onto—a true musician's musician whose influence reaches far beyond the bass guitar.
