Alice Spencer

Alice Spencer is an Austin singer, songwriter and pianist whose career spans more than three decades of jazz, blues, roots music and original songwriting. Raised in Houston in a musical family, she began performing professionally while studying theater in St. Louis, where she joined the alternative-rock band Three Merry Widows and later sang with the jazz, blues and old-time ensemble The Geyer Street Sheiks.

After returning to Texas, Spencer became involved in a wide range of Austin projects, including The Barkers, Victrola, Floyd Domino’s All Stars and her own jazz groups.

She is also widely known for her nearly nine-year run with Shinyribs, which included extensive touring and an appearance on Austin City Limits. Spencer later worked with Jon Langford and The Bright Shiners, performs with the Seth James Band and continues presenting her own material alongside jazz and blues standards.

Her 2025 album Alice was recorded live to tape and features songs associated with Ray Charles, Allen Toussaint, Willie Dixon and other foundational American writers. Whether singing swing, soul, blues or an original song, Spencer brings a powerful voice, sharp phrasing and years of lived-in musical experience to the stage.
